The Los Elefantes Tournament got underway in perfect conditions at 10am on the 30th April, sadly with 2 participants, Sam & Ollie not able to join us due to illness and who were very much missed!
Once again, as we were short on numbers this time, each drawn couple got to play the other 3, and a semi-final!
So let´s introduce the players!
After some pretty intense matches with super long rallies, all the group matches were completed before lunch, with the scores on the doors as follows:-
Next up … Lunch at the lovely David & Lynda´s, with some enticing Chilli, Coronation Chicken, Onion Tart, Quiches, Bread & Cheese, and having to make do with a box of chocolate biscuits for desert as we were not only missing Sam & Ollie but also their Panna Cotta!
Plus some time for the Club President, David R, to sort out the semi finals!
The Semi Final Teams, and Order of Play
At 2:30 the semi-finals kicked off, avidly watched by all, as both matches were highly entertaining!.
To start David & Jane went 3:0 down before clawing their way back to win after an exhilarating tie break, and then Lynda & Benke and David M & Chantal fort valiantly and were at 5 games all, when injury struck Chantal and they had to scratch the rest of the match!
Our Finalists....
As ever, we had a fabulous final to watch, with both Jane & Lynda giggling at the odds that they would both make the final, and both putting up a wonderful fight alongside their partners, with the winners being Jane & David R with a score of 6-4!
Not sure we have seen such a smile on Jane´s face knowing that she will have her name on the trophy at last…probably only matched by Chantal´s after the Diazepam had taken effect!!!
We all then headed back to Lynda & David´s to tuck into the celebrations.
The Runners Up

And Of Course, All The Participants!
Another wonderful day was had by all. On behalf of all those involved, the Club would like to give a huge thank you to Lynda & David Middleton for hosting the lunch and celebrations again and to David & Chantal for organising it.
