Los Elefantes Tournament – June 2019

The Participants were Jane & Keith, Veronica & David M, Sjan & David R, Chantal & Luis and last but not least, Lynda & Frank. The results of the round robin saw David R and Sjan as No 1 Gent & Lady, Luis & Chantal as No 2 Gent & Lady, David M & Veronica as No 3 Gent & Lady and Frank & Jane as No 4 Gent & Lady, which meant the plate (currently the Sybil Robson Trophy) being awarded to Keith & Lynda.

So after a wonderful lunch hosted by Lynda and David M, a big thank you to them, the first of the semi finals between Sjan & David R, and Veronica & David M was a closely run thing, Sjan & David R. finally coming through with 6 games to 4. The second semi final between Chantal & Luis and Jane & Frank saw Chantal & Luis making up the finals, with a score of 6:1, despite most of the games being taken to deuce! So finally we came to the last match of the day, the Final, between Sjan & David R. and Chantal & Luis, which saw Sjan & David R. taking the trophy after winning a closely fought match 6:3.

Back to the Middletons to polish off the food, raise a glass or two in celebration and award the prizes and Trophy to the runners-up, Chantal & Luis (well at least Luis had some wine to take back to Bob!) and the winners, Sjan & David R, not forgetting the plate trophy to Keith & Lynda, which saw pride of place on Lynda’s mantelpiece, before we all departed for the night.
